The Road  

The Road is not an accurate depiction of a single road trip from Melbourne to the Larapinta (Finke) River near Alice Springs, it includes footage from various routes toward the central desert region captured on GoPro, Iphone, camera or drone while Sheree Cairney travelled to Alice Springs. The conceptual nature of the road is intentional. It could represent any journey we undertake, and the mental struggle that ensues; you will struggle, you will be in awe, you will be challenged. Long road trips force us to think deeply about our life beyond the bitumen or dirt in front of us, and to dwell on our own life journey. When surrounded by wide open landscapes perhaps those thoughts  will  be absorbed instead into the vastness surrounding you.
